Position Summary: 

NextNav is launching a groundbreaking location service for smartphones, IOT, and other devices – an ability to determine altitude and floor level detection service across the country – a capability that does not exist at scale anywhere today! No longer constrained by legacy “flat earth” technologies, applications and users will be able to determine floor-level altitude, which is essential for navigation, user context and relevancy and many other applications that are used indoors as well as situational awareness. NextNav’s is the highest precision Z-Axis solution proven in the marketplace today, and a person joining this team will have the ability to define the space.

Candidate will be responsible for crafting and leading the execution of the marketing strategy for NextNav’s ground-breaking location products domestically and building to a worldwide presence. Responsibilities will include planning, developing, implement and monitoring NextNav’s overall company marketing strategy.  Duties include marketing communications, digital and social presence, tradeshow/conference oversight, lead generation, advertising and public relations as well as managing appropriate support staff and 3rd parties, with the overall objective of building and growing awareness of NextNav’s products and capabilities. Initially focused on targeted segments and customer groups, NextNav expects its brand over time to be built as the reference for geolocation, including both Z-Axis and the GPS backup services, across enterprise, mass-market consumer, public safety, transportation and all other domains that rely on location.

• With senior management, define multi-segment marketing strategy for NextNav’s unique value proposition, across all major platforms, with the objective of building NextNav as the acknowledged reference in 3D geolocation.
• Execute and maintain NextNav’s digital, social, media and tradeshow presence, targeting key enablement partners and end-users of NextNav’s services.
• Ensure appropriate awareness approach and messaging across multiple interested parties, including end users of NextNav-based products and direct NextNav customers.
• Key direct customers include app developers, wireless carriers, mobile device manufacturers and others delivering technology-based products and services.
• Awareness must also cover end-user segments as diverse as the use of location, including key public safety, enterprise and mass-market verticals, but also covering transportation, critical infrastructure, IOT and others.
• Initial focus will be to target U.S.-based stakeholders, with initially opportunistic expansion into international markets: domestic awareness is critical in 2020, but building global awareness is a future objective.
• Expect to work with internal resources and 3rd parties as NextNav expands, building internal marketing team in-step with business growth
• Be an evangelist for a three dimensional world

Desired Skills & Experience

• 12+ years of marketing leadership for technology-oriented products and services.
• Proven record of building brand awareness across multiple, targeted market segments.
• Bachelor’s degree.

• Prior experience with location and data-oriented applications and services.

Physical Demands
Periodic travel as required to support market presence.

Work Environment
Home office in Sunnyvale, CA.
• Periodic travel expected to support market presence.

Expect to work closely with other members of senior management in this high-profile position to build the NextNav brand domestically and worldwide as the reference in 3D geolocation.
