Position Summary: 

Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of RF and Altitude design in supported markets, using propagation modeling tools, MapInfo Professional, MBS and Z engineering knowledge assure designs are completed to the engineering standards developed by the company. Candidate will need to make field visits to markets, either alone or in concert with other personnel to assure network quality standards are being used. Candidate will review input from site teams to determine the impact on system design and make needed design changes to maintain service quality.
Candidate will be called upon to work other projects and initiatives from time-to-time as needed.

Essential Functions: 

• Proficient use of propagation modeling tools and techniques
• Proficient use of MapInfo Professional
• Work closely with site teams to analyze effects of modified site locations and parameters based upon the availability of suitable property
• Work closely with site teams to bring markets on-air according to determined timelines
• Support testing efforts to collect data about network and site performance; use this data to refine the parameters of MBS and Z sites to optimize service
• On-going responsibility for market performance and future network enhancements
• Document designs and parameters selections
• Support other activities as needed
• Successful management and leadership of a technical team of engineers, contractors and technicians
• Support the research and development efforts of NextNav’s technology organization as needed.

Education, Experience, Skills and Attributes: 

Desired Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated skills developing, designing, and fine tuning a newly developed technology
• Familiarity with multiple propagation and modeling tools and their limitations
• Candidates with experience in NextNav technologies will be given preference
• Candidates with expertise in LBS (Location Based Service) network design, GPS network solutions or broadcasting or paging designs will be given preference
• Familiarity with MapInfo and/or other GIS programs
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Able to support the deployment efforts from design through “on-air” status
• Experience with data collection, drive testing and pedestrian testing techniques
• Must be a self-starter who can quickly grasp new concepts and be able to interact with multiple internal/external groups effortlessly

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient in PlaNet
• Ability to help support our regulator filings and spectrum protection plans
Physical Demands
• Requires occasional field work involving the lifting and carrying of test gear from a vehicle to an MBS or Z-only equipment location. Test gear can weigh up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment
• Mostly office related work
• Will require several hours a day working on a computer
• Will require occasional field visits working with contractors and customers performing testing, maintenance, calibration and validation activity
