NextNav recently filed reply comments with the Federal Communications Commission in support of our petition to reconfigure the Lower 900 MHz Band to enable a 5G-based terrestrial positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) service that can be readily deployed and adopted to serve as a complement and backup to GPS and support 5G broadband deployment and use.
“We are pleased the FCC leadership and expert staff can begin to evaluate NextNav’s proposal, which is the only actionable plan to meet the urgent need for a widescale terrestrial PNT solution at no cost to taxpayers. Our innovative solution provides a crucial complement and backup to a vital service that underpins American commerce, public safety, and national security—expanding the promise of the Lower 900 MHz band to unleash 15 MHz for 5G broadband spectrum while preserving numerous coexistence possibilities.
“We remain committed to working with stakeholders through engineer-to-engineer dialogue and by conducting necessary testing alongside other users to deliver a solution that will provide enormous public benefits.”
