In a proud moment for NextNav, our Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer Arun Raghupathy was recently honored by the University of Maryland’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) with the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award. This prestigious award celebrates alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and made notable contributions to their industries.

Arun’s journey from the classrooms and labs at the University of Maryland to the forefront of PNT technology is inspiring. As CTO, he has spearheaded groundbreaking work at NextNav, where he’s been instrumental in the development and design of NextNav’s technologies and innovative solutions.  In fact, he has more than 50 issued patents.

The awards ceremony, held on November 15, brought together industry leaders, faculty, and family to celebrate the recipients’ accomplishments. Arun’s award highlights not only his professional accomplishments but also his contributions to advancing ECE’s legacy of excellence. It’s a testament to his dedication to transforming PNT technology and creating real-world impact through innovation.

Reflecting on this honor, Arun said, “I’m deeply grateful to my mentors and colleagues from the University of Maryland. Their support laid the foundation for my career and my work at NextNav. This recognition reinforces my commitment to pushing the boundaries of what technology can achieve.”
