The Inside GNSS article reports on a Joint Research Centre (JRC) report that recognizes NextNav’s TerraPoiNT system as exceeding industry standards for assured positioning, navigation, and timing (A-PNT). The report assessed the performance of various A-PNT systems, including TerraPoiNT, and evaluated their potential to support critical infrastructure and applications. The JRC report highlights TerraPoiNT’s superior performance in terms of accuracy, availability, and robustness, particularly in urban canyons and indoor environments. The article notes that this recognition from the JRC could boost TerraPoiNT’s adoption for critical applications such as transportation, emergency services, and defense.
“TerraPoiNT demonstrated indoor positioning, timing and navigation, including vertical location accuracy within 2 meters 90% of the time, throughout the entire test, according to the report. It was also only one of three technologies to successfully demonstrate timing stability over multiple days of GNSS loss. Overall, it exceeded critical infrastructure requirements by maintaining timing stability within 15 nanoseconds 90% of the time.”
